As The Groundsman’s Shed reported earlier- a double compound fracture is extremely serious business, and has ended the career of players past– but today Eduardo da Silva spoke to media for the first time since the horror tackle from Martin Taylor left him lying on the pitch at St. Andrews.

“All I remember is that when I fell, I looked down at my foot and it had turned the other way. The rest is just a blank. It was an unfortunate situation but these things can happen in football… My concentration and determination is on making as quick a recovery as possible.  I am determined to overcome this injury.”

Tottenham Hotspur dominated Sunday’s match against Chelsea to win 2-1 in extra time.   It’s been 4 months since Juande Ramos coolly sauntered into England from Sevilla, and his first chance to bring some much hoped for trophies to White Hart Lane.   Both coaches in this League Final had a lot to play for as they both came into their current positions under somewhat unusual circumstances, but Avram Grant’s team just seemed somewhat defensive, and didn’t take many chances with much conviction.  Overall, it was a great win for the incredibly enthusiastic Spurs supporters in the stands, who made plenty of noise and were in great form throughout the match.
